The world's a mess... Something cool people can do would be to ask seller to send a picture but include something unique that only you buyer and seller would know that the seller could put in the picture like a message written on piece of paper along with part etc.

The combine thats harvesting beans is our combine. Serial N41065. Has the cab air cleaner extension. Im pretty sure the guy in overalls is Bill Hoeppner a neighbor that worked at Independence plant. Development started in 1980 of the the R40/50 or N3/4 at the time. Took 7 years of Development for it to hit the market in 1987. It was a forerunner with simpler design than N series thats still used today on Super Series.

It makes me so sick to see these tractors today knowing what farmers around me bought in the era! Gear Grinding 86 Series IH and clunky JDs. I knew a couple "odd ball" farmers who bought AC 8000 series, they were hard using customers and kept these things productive for damn near 30 years! All the IH and JD farmers had been through 3 tractors to the AC guys ONE!!! Too bad AC didn't have the quality of Dealers like IH or JD. If they did we would still see new AC Tractors today! UGH

The next door neighbor's dairy barn is being leveled as I type this comment. It was a modern arch roof built in 1959 after the original burned. We are losing many of the old barns now in this area formerly full of dairy farms.. There used to be a set of farm buildings on every 80 acres, but no longer. It is sad to see this way of life disappearing all over rural America. That farm life was tough, but it made for strong people and families. This was a fine tribute to your Grandma.

In many ways I can relate. My folks house , had been my grandparents house and was owned by my great grandparents before. My parents will determine that the farm be sold, and proceeds divided among us 5 kids. I was the youngest, and only farmer, farming on my own place 25 miles away. So the farm sold out of the family for the first time in over 100 years. Going through the house after my parents were gone was tough, and your tour brought back many thoughts and memories of my own family. It isn’t the same once the old folks are gone, just a collection of boards and bricks. The people are what gave the place value. It’s difficult to watch change like this happening, but change is all around us. The guy with the excavator was very efficient in his moves.

Same type of thing happed in my family, but instead of demolishing the house it was split in two. Two uncles lived within a mile of it so the house was basically cut down the middle and each uncle took half and moved it to their farm. One became a nice shop and the other a barn so the house lived on but in a different form.

AC had a great product. Yes, there were some weaknesses, but overall they were good solid tractors. Thirty or more years ago, I used a 6080 as a full-time machine. It wasn't perfect, but it had fewer headaches, and was more rugged than any other tractor I used before or since. The biggest mistake AC made was outsourcing major components. I believe if they had stuck with the lines where they really excelled, and brought back a version of the G in the 1980's, they may have made a go of it.
